Floor Supervisor

Position Summary: Working with the Visitor Experience team, Floor Supervisors are a key point of contact for visitors, staff and volunteers at the London Children’s Museum (LCM). Acting as the primary staff member on duty, the Floor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe and effective daily operation of the LCM, creating a positive and memorable experience for all. While on duty, the Floor Supervisor provides supervisory support to the part-time Visitor Experience team, ensuring exhibits, programs and events run smoothly. The Floor Supervisor also provides customer service support and responds to visitor concerns.

Position: Permanent part-time hourly position, 15-30 hours per week; must have weekday, weekend, and evening availability

Compensation: $21.50/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keyholder position requiring a high level of responsibility and problem-solving skills
  • Provide and model exceptional visitor-centered experiences and customer service
  • Act as the key contact for maintaining positive customer relations, managing concerns and customer service issues
  • Provide leadership to part-time staff, ensuring the seamless delivery of programs and services
  • Assist in the training, support and supervision of part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Monitor and adjust daily schedules, communicating staffing and scheduling concerns to area managers
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of all museum policies and procedures
  • Respond effectively and efficiently to urgent situations, using sound judgment and critical thinking
  • Support program readiness by ensuring spaces, supplies, materials, and resources are organized, maintained, and available to team members for high-quality program delivery
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment by maintaining exhibit cleanliness, museum tidiness, and overall organization of physical spaces
  • Model the London Children’s Museum’s values and pedagogy in all interactions
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and positive team culture
  • Other duties as required

 

Skills & Requirements:

  • Minimum 2+ years working in a customer-facing and/or supervisory role
  • Experience in hands-on, experiential learning environments is an asset
  • Experience working in an environment with children and families as the key audience is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering outstanding customer service
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team
  • Experience supporting staff/volunteers
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and multi-task
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Standard/Immediate First Aid and CPR C certificate
  • Must provide a current vulnerable sector check
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada following relevant legislation and regulations
  • Must be available to work weekday, evenings, and weekend shifts
