Join Pillar's Board of Directors
Are you passionate about driving meaningful change in your community and supporting a vibrant nonprofit sector? Pillar Nonprofit Network invites you to consider contributing your skills and perspectives by joining our leadership team.
We recruit new Board of Directors members annually. The recruitment for Board positions typically takes place between January and March, with successful candidates elected by Pillar's membership at the Annual General Meeting in April. As Board vacancies vary from year to year, we welcome expressions of interest throughout the year from individuals who wish to be considered for future Board opportunities.
In addition to Board positions, we currently have vacancies for community members to serve on our Finance and Audit Committee, or Fundraising Committee. Unlike Board Directors, Community Members are appointed rather than elected, providing a meaningful way to contribute your expertise to Pillar's governance work without standing for election.

Two Ways to Get Involved
Board Member (Elected)
- Help shape Pillar's strategic direction and organizational impact.
- Attend board meetings 6-12 times per year and take an active role in strategic discussion.
- Serve on a board committee or working group.
- Recommended by our Nominations Committee and elected by Pillar's membership at the AGM.
Community Member (Non-Elected) - Vacancies Available
- Contribute expertise and input on strategic matters without the full governance responsibilities of a board seat.
- Serve on one of Pillar's committees (see below).
Our Committees
- Finance and Audit Committee: Provide financial oversight and strategic advice to strengthen Pillar’s financial sustainability.
- Governance Committee: Strengthen organizational governance through policy development, board recruitment, and succession planning, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Fundraising Committee: Support fundraising and resource development strategies to advance Pillar’s mission.
This is a great opportunity for individuals to build leadership skills, deepen their involvement with Pillar, and gain experience in nonprofit governance.
Who Should Apply?
Pillar is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive board that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome and encourage applications from people with a wide range of skills, professional backgrounds, and lived experiences. This includes – but is not limited to – individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of colour, people with disabilities, and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
We are especially interested in candidates who bring senior-level fundraising experience, including one or more of the following: major gifts, campaign leadership, corporate or foundation partnerships, or serving in a senior fundraising or revenue-generating role (staff or volunteer). Experience providing strategic fundraising oversight, mentorship, or governance-level leadership would be a strong asset.

Good governance starts with transparency. As part of the application process, we ask all candidates to disclose any potential conflicts of interest. This is a routine step for every board member and helps us maintain strong, trusted governance together.

Our Nominations Committee will review submissions and reach out to discuss next steps. While we deeply value every expression of interest, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further discussion.
Applicants are also welcome to visit during our in-person open office hours every Tuesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at 201 King Street, London, Ontario, to gain more insights about Pillar Nonprofit Network. No appointment is required.
