Position: Finance Administrative Assistant

Location:L’Arche London

Start: October 2026

Salary: $23.04- $25.61/hour based on experience

Contracted hours:35 hours/ week

L’Arche London is seeking an energetic and experienced Finance Administrative Assistant to support our organization’s day-to-day financial operations and to ensure accurate, timely financial records and processes. The successful candidate will bring careful attention to detail, sound organizational and accounting skills, confidentiality, and a commitment to the Identity and Mission of L’Arche. The Finance Administrative Assistant reports to the Community Leader.

Location

L’Arche London is a dynamic, diverse, and vibrant community. We have three homes and our Gathering Place in Lambeth.  We offer a variety of recreational, therapeutic, vocational and adult education day and evening programs to Live-In and Live-Out Core Members at the Gathering Place, and other satellite locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the community and the Finance Committee of the Board through careful, timely, and accurate maintenance of all financial records, payroll, and accounting systems.
  • Duties include:
    • preparation of biweekly payroll and maintenance of employee data including tracking of hours, employee benefits and registered retirement contributions.
    • managing all payables, receivables, journal entries, banking and monthly reconciliations.
    • tracking of Grant spending
    • careful monitoring of incoming donations, donor database and deposit reports
    • preparation of detailed monthly and annual financial reports.
    • Assisting in annual budget process and providing up-to-date monthly budget monitoring
    • filing charitable and government remittances, including year-end T4s and employer health tax.
    • maintaining electronic and paper based financial records.
    • providing all financial data and support to fiscal year-end audit process.
    • Performs other accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or financial management required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with accounting, payroll and database systems.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accrual and cost accounting.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft 365 applications with particular expertise in MS Excel
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and collaboratively with colleagues, external parties, and stakeholders
  • Collaborative, adaptable, self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful, with a positive and professional work ethic.
  • Good judgment and ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling highly sensitive information.
  • Professional representative of L’Arche London at all times, with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Community.
  • Clear police check, including vulnerable sector screening.
