Help Shape the London-Middlesex Food Charter
Join the Middlesex-London Food Policy Council (MLFPC) for a virtual community consultation to help shape a Food Charter for London and Middlesex County.
A Food Charter is a broad community statement or set of goals that outline a community’s vision for their local food system. It reflect the voices of various stakeholders, and therefore encourage community connections and cross-sectorial collaboration. The vision for food charters is typically grounded in the pursuit of a healthy, sustainable, and just food system – this vision should guide community action and municipal policy development
Your voice matters. This consultation is an opportunity to share your experiences, perspectives, and ideas about the future of our local food system. We want to hear from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences, whether you work in the food system, volunteer in your community, or are simply interested in food and its role in our everyday lives.
What will we discuss?
This will be an interactive session in which we will discuss:
- 1. What does a healthy, sustainable, equitable and resilient food system look like in London and Middlesex?
- 2. What are the biggest challenges facing our local food system
- 3. What changes are needed to strengthen our local food system?
- 4. What commitments should organizations, governments, businesses and community members make to advance those changes? What principles should guide decisions about food?
Your input will help inform the priorities, principles, and goals of the updated Food Charter for London and Middlesex County.
Everyone is welcome. You don't need any prior knowledge of food policy to participate. We encourage community members from across London and Middlesex County to join the conversation and share what matters to them.
