Somali Canadian Federation
The Somali Canadian Federation & Development Somcanfed is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the Somali-Canadian community in Canada and providing aid and support to those in need in Somalia. Since its establishment, Somcanfed has been actively engaged in humanitarian efforts, community development projects, and advocacy initiatives both in Canada and Somalia.
Somcanfed stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment for the Somali-Canadian community and the people of Somalia. Guided by a vision of unity, assistance, and progress, Somcanfed has emerged as a pivotal organization committed to enriching lives and fostering positive change. With a deep commitment to empowerment and support, Somcanfed operates on dual fronts, addressing the needs of Somali Canadians while extending a helping hand to those facing adversity in Somalia. Our history
The formation of Somcanfed was driven by a recognition of the diverse needs and aspirations of Somali Canadians, who, like many immigrant communities, sought to preserve their cultural heritage while embracing the opportunities of their new home. As a result, Somcanfed was born and it was established in Somalia in 2022 and was first officially registered in Canada in 2019. From the outset, Somcanfed has been guided by a steadfast commitment to empowering women’s Groups, fostering community cohesion, and advocating for the rights and interests of Somali Canadians. Over the years, Somcanfed has evolved into a multifaceted organization, offering a range of programs and services designed to address the evolving needs of the community. From educational initiatives and youth empowerment programs to cultural events and advocacy efforts, Somcanfed has played a pivotal role in nurturing a strong sense of belonging and pride among Somali Canadians.
In parallel, Somcanfed recognized the pressing humanitarian needs facing Somalia, a country grappling with the legacy of conflict, instability, and natural disasters. In response, Somcanfed expanded its reach beyond Canadian borders, establishing offices in Mogadishu, Garowe and Las'anod, Kismayo, Baydhabo and Dhusa-mareb to coordinate humanitarian aid, development projects, and community outreach efforts in Somalia.

The vision of SCF is to be a leading organization in empowering and unifying the Somali-Canadian community, fostering collaboration, resilience, and sustainable development. SCF envisions a future where Somali-Canadians thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment while actively contributing to the prosperity and well-being of Somalia.
Mission
The mission of the Somali Canadian Federation (SCF) is to empower and unify the Somali-Canadian community in Canada and contribute to the rebuilding and resilience of Somalia, promoting peace, stability, and socio-economic progress for all.
