Progressive Animal Welfare Services PAWS) is a SW Ontario based charity that aims to keep at-risk and low-income families in our communities safe, healthy and with their pets, through any crisis. 

PAWS is looking for a Volunteer Social Media Specialist who truly cares about animal welfare and is eager to join our remote team. Whether you're familiar with the local South West Ontario area or not, your dedication is what matters most to us. This position requires an estimated workload of 2 to 4 hours per week for a minimum of a 6 month term.

The Social Media Specialist works with the Digital Marketing team to create/manage our public-facing profiles and implement a social media strategy.

What to Expect:

Planning and coordinating social media

  • Social media calendar - creating and posting regularly - considering special calendar days, seasonal issues, PAWS events, profiling of timely causes/issues, sharing posts of relevant animal welfare group.

  • Ensuring the public-facing profile and messaging on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube reflect and consistent with PAWS brand and key message.

Developing content

  • Collaborate with the Education team and Fundraising team seeking ideas and specific materials to be developed to use across all social media platforms. 

  • Interface with Graphic designers to advise/create materials needed for promotion of events on social media 

  • Maintain photo and video storage and organization of it for use by all.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • The ability to communicate with compassion, empathy and clarity

  • Working knowledge of a variety of social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and others

  • Knowledge of SEM & SEO an asset

  • A strong sense of compassion towards vulnerable and less privileged animal owners
