Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre is currently seeking a Volunteer Master Gardener to help lead and support gardening efforts in the Hamilton Road community garden.
This role is essential to helping participants learn gardening skills, and experience the many benefits of working in nature, all while connecting with others in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- i. Provide guidance and oversight in planting, maintaining, and harvesting vegetables and companion plants.
- ii. Collaborate with the CMHA worker delivering the Green Thumbs therapeutic gardening program.
- iii. Support the Crouch NRC Basic Needs & Support Services team in preparing and maintaining the garden plot.
iv. Create a plan for supplies, tools, and volunteer roles.
v. Offer instruction and mentorship on growing techniques and best practices.
vi. Ensure alignment with the therapeutic goals of the Green Thumbs program.
Skills
-Master Gardener designation
-Friendly, compassionate, and non-judgmental.
-Clear communicator
-Ability to observe and address behavioural issues calmly (familiarity with de-escalation tactics is an asset).
-Your expertise will help make fresh, healthy food more accessible to those in need—with dignity.
