Job Title: Board Treasurer
Organization: Community Counselling London (CCL)
Reports to: Board Chair
About Community Counselling London (CCL):
CCL is a non-profit organization that provides mental health and counselling services to individuals ages 12 and up in the London, Ontario community. Our mission is to enhance the mental well-being of individuals by providing accessible, high-quality counselling services. Our mission is also to train graduate-level therapist interns under supervision through internships.
Position Summary:
The Board Treasurer plays a crucial role in the financial health and sustainability of CCL. This position is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and providing sound financial guidance to the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Oversight:
o Oversee the financial activities of the organization, including budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
o Monitor the financial performance of the organization against budget and identify any potential risks or concerns.
o Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records.
o Prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Directors on a regular basis.
• Financial Planning & Strategy:
o Work with the Executive Director and Board to develop and implement long-term financial plans and strategies.
o Advise the Board on financial implications of major decisions and initiatives.
o Explore and recommend fundraising opportunities to support the organization's financial sustainability.
• Risk Management:
o Identify and mitigate financial risks facing the organization.
o Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and accounting standards.
o Oversee the organization's insurance coverage.
• Board Support:
o Provide financial expertise and guidance to the Board of Directors on all financial matters.
o Assist the Board in fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities.
o Build and maintain strong relationships with other members of the Board.
• Other Duties as Required:
o Participate in Board meetings and committees as required.
o Assist with other duties as assigned by the Board Chair.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and practices.
• Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Community Counselling London.
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with non-profit organizations is an asset.
