Title: Board of Director

Posting Period: June 9 - July 5, 2025

Position Description:

Queer Intersections (QX) is seeking new board members who will commit and contribute to building and maintaining our grassroots nonprofit organization. At QX, we are working to become a central hub for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in London-Middlesex where individuals of all ages and identities can find the services, support and community they need.

QX is dedicated to creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals of all ages. Our mission is to promote health, well-being, and social inclusion through dynamic programming, support services, and community-building activities. Through our efforts, we aim to build a strong, connected, and resilient 2SLGBTQIA+ community that thrives within and contributes to the broader society.

The board meets in-person one evening each month. In addition to attending regular board meetings, members are asked to join at least one sub-committee. The commitment for committees varies depending on the group and time of year. We are currently an entirely volunteer-based organization that is hands on. Our programs and services are reliant on our board members commitment to their ongoing engagement

Our organization is currently seeking individuals with experience or expertise in the following areas:

  • Finance & Nonprofit Operations (policies, governance and/or administration)
  • Event Support
  • Social Media & Marketing
  • System Navigation & Social Services (including social workers and mental health professionals)
  • Strategic Planning
  • Volunteer Coordination
  • Workshop/Program Development

To ensure we are 2SLGBTQIA+-led and our Board reflects the diverse identities of the people we serve, we strongly encourage applications from the following equity-deserving groups to help shape our future:

        •  BIPOC individuals
        • Trans women
        • Trans men
        • Indigenous Peoples
        • Youth (18+)
        • Seniors (60+)

Time Commitment

  • 2-hour monthly board meeting

  • Minimum of 1 hour sub committee meeting /month

  • Assigned ongoing duties minimum of 5+ hours /month

  • On average, board members are expected to be engaged approximately 10 -15 volunteer hours per month

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Please be aware that, according to the law, individuals who have declared bankruptcy within the past five years are not eligible to serve on the board of a non-profit organization.

We strongly encourage applications from individuals of all identities and backgrounds, even if you don’t see yourself reflected in every aspect of the qualifications or lived experience we’ve outlined.

We recognize that systems of oppression, racism, colonialism, and discrimination shape access to education, leadership, and work opportunities. These systems may have historically excluded or undervalued certain perspectives and skill sets — particularly those rooted in lived experience and frontline knowledge. If you’re passionate about the work we do and believe you can contribute meaningfully to our mission, we want to hear from you.

Accessibility and Inclusion
We are committed to creating an equitable and accessible recruitment process and work environment. If you require any accommodations to support your application or participation in an interview — such as submitting your application in a different format or accessing alternative interview methods — please don’t hesitate to let us know.

How to Apply:

Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining why you are interested in joining the QX Board, the skills and experience you would bring, and any other relevant information that supports your application. Please send your resume and cover letter to: amanda.beardshaw@qxcanada.org

Please be aware that only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Whether you're looking for volunteer opportunities,
networking events or a job in the nonprofit sector, we can help.
