Invitation to apply to theThames Talbot Land Trust Board of Directors.

Thames Talbot Land Trust (TTLT) is a registered charity with a mission to protect, conserve, and restore nature within Elgin, Middlesex, Oxford and Perth counties, contributing to a stable climate, human wellbeing, and healthy habitats for all species. We work respectfully on the territories of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabeg, Lenape, Chonnonton and Wendat peoples and in collaboration with local First Nations communities. We currently protect over 950 hectares (2,300 acres) of land across 28 nature reserves, including two active farms.

Our goals include:
- Permanent protection of natural habitats and agricultural land
- Restoration and stewardship of wildlife habitat
- Delivery of engaging, meaningful and inclusive environmental education and outreach

TTLT is recruiting members to serve as Directors on the TTLT Board. Several positions are available and we are looking for diverse skills and experiences including fundraising, knowledge of nature and/or land stewardship, marketing, education or community engagement, farming, finance, investment or estate planning.

Duties and Responsibilities of Board Members:

To be legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the Thames Talbot Land Trust.
- To ensure that the organization best serves its mission, by providing governance oversight.
- To adopt an annual budget and provide fiscal oversight.
- To evaluate the performance of the executive director.
- To evaluate its performance and overall performance of the organization in achieving the mission.
- To establish policies for the effective management of the organization.
- To serve on at least one TTLT committee or take on a special assignment (e.g., Finance Committee, Property Management Committee, Land Securement Committee, Membership and Marketing Committee, Fund Development Committee).
- To participate in volunteer activities (e.g., fundraising campaigns, land stewardship, education and outreach).
- To contribute financially to TTLT fundraising campaigns.
- To be familiar with and to adhere to all TTLT policies.
- If desired and upon nomination, to serve as an Officer of the Board (e.g. President, Vice-president, Secretary or Treasurer) with additional roles and responsibilities.

Time Commitment (approximate):

- Attendance at new board member orientation (ca. 2 hours)
- Attendance and active participation in at least 75% of board meetings (6 board meetings annually, ca. 2 hours in length, some virtual and some in-person/hybrid)
- Attendance at annual full day strategic planning session (typically held on a Saturday or Sunday in London)
- Attendance and active participation in a TTLT committee or executive officer meetings and related work (6 committee meetings annually, ca. 2 hours in length, most virtual or hybrid)
- Attendance at special events such as fundraisers and nature reserve celebrations (in-person)

Length of Term: Two years (three-term limit)
