We are looking for an energetic Manager who can work comfortably with/in academic, government, and community organizations. This role places the successful candidate as a key convenor in our network and the lead for our social innovation labs practice. As part of this team, the Manager leads the implementation of CityStudio London and supports the Libro Social Enterprise Incubator. Effective coordination of this initiative will enable our team to support the launch of collaborative, experimental projects that inspire a culture shift, demonstrate future possibilities, and change the way our systems are built for the better.
About Pillar’s Social Innovation team: The Social Innovation team supports the development and co-creation of experimental projects through multi-stakeholder collaboratives. Our practice areas include: social enterprise, social finance, innovation labs, and ecosystem development. We currently support social enterprise, through social enterprise coaching, incubation and consulting; social finance, through VERGE Capital; and emerging practices around the theme of inclusion, such as reconciliation and conservation.
About CityStudio London: CityStudio is a proven model of experiential education, pioneered in Vancouver, that extends the learning environment outside the classroom and into the community and City Hall. About Libro Social Enterprise Incubator: Twice a year, social entrepreneurs and innovators are invited to participate in 12-months of integrated, supported learning at Innovation Works. Supported by Libro Credit Union, this program provides ongoing coaching, mentorship, learning opportunities, and resources to boost the impact of these social enterprises.
Manager, CityStudio London
Your roles and responsibilities
Overall:
The Program Manager leads the implementation of City Studio London and supports the Libro Social Enterprise Incubator. This includes facilitating the development of projects with City staff; matching projects with the appropriate faculty members and courses; ensuring project focus and quality by providing ongoing mentorship, feedback, and support organizing showcase events; and assisting with impact measurement and evaluation. As a member of the Pillar Nonprofit Network team, your work will be integrated into various meetings, internal processes, and external relationships.
Relationship Management and Communications

Represent CityStudio as an ambassador and primary liaison to the City of London, Fanshawe College, Western University, Brescia University College, Huron University College, King’s University College, and community partners.

Organize and deliver presentations to City staff and post-secondary faculty and students to increase awareness, participation, and engagement.

Communicate and work with City staff to identify challenges, assess fit, and define objectives, scope, and requirements.

Develop relationships with faculty members across partner institutions and disciplines
-
Maintain an up-to-date contact information database to manage and communicate with partners, and participants.
-
Develop a network of educators to share ideas and resources, deepen projects, and foster collaboration around the city.

Respond to inquiries from staff, faculty, and students related to CityStudio projects, programs, and courses.
-
Manage the CityStudio London brand, including marketing and communications through social media, website, blogs, videos, email newsletters, and other digital or offline formats.

Support the promotion of Social Enterprise Incubator applications twice a year.
Project Development, Incubation, and Showcase
-
Deploy a project launch, completion, and evaluation process for CityStudio projects.
-
Build and maintain an ongoing project opportunity database across City departments.
-
Develop and manage a pipeline of potential project matches between the City and post-secondary courses, including project agreements.
-
Facilitate project development workshops with City of London staff, faculty members, and other stakeholders to identify and develop opportunities for students, with a focus on priority themes.

Ensure appropriate scoping of projects to maintain suitability for university and college level curricula and disciplines.

Manage and execute the A to Z needs for a minimum of 15-20 campus courses per year.

Organize project showcase events to celebrate project successes and learnings.

Bi-annually manage applications process for Social Enterprise Incubator.

Coordinate Social Enterprise Incubator orientation and workshops.
Monitoring and Evaluation

Develop and monitor project and event budgets.
-
Implement and monitor project reporting, evaluation, and impact metrics for CityStudio.

Evaluate projects based on feedback from faculty, staff, and students.

Maintain project documentation and reports for website and future sharing.

Create a high-level overview of each term (in slides and numbers) to share key findings and metrics.

Conduct quarterly evaluation surveys with Social Enterprise Incubator participants.

Support the development of the annual Social Enterprise Incubator impact report.
Your knowledge, skills, and abilities
Professional qualifications:
-
Minimum 3 years experience in project/program management with strong experience and knowledge of postsecondary institutions and municipal government.

Experience with community-based experiential learning at the post-secondary level.
-
Demonstrated proficiency in operationalizing complex projects and managing large groups of diverse stakeholders.
-
Experience monitoring data for large projects and managing new contact databases.
-
Acquainted with tools, platforms, and technologies to automate and simplify redundant processes.
-
Able to identify and create opportunities for interpersonal connections, collaborations and tangible outcomes involving multiple stakeholders.
-
High comfort level in facilitating large groups and unifying stakeholders with various needs and priorities.

Engaging public speaker, experienced in delivering inspiring presentations to diverse audiences and adapting messaging and style accordingly.

Strong brand-management skill set, including: strategy, marketing, design, social media, event management, and public relations.

Your work environment

Full-time, 12-month contract position, with possibility for extension.

Reporting to Pillar’s Director of Social Innovation, under the guidance of the CityStudio Circle (comprised of representatives from all partner organizations).

May require occasional evening and weekend work.

Based at Innovation Works (201 King Street). May require frequent travel to partners (i.e. City Hall and other City of London offices, post-secondary partner campuses). Remote work and flexible hours are feasible.
