LONDON, ONTARIO, August 26, 2020 – Once again, we will be sharing the stories of those who are inspiring us to create change in our community at the 14th Annual Pillar Community Innovation Awards. The selected finalists are examples of those who are making our community better and brighter.
The Pillar Community Innovation Awards celebrates individuals, organizations and enterprises investing in positive community impact in the categories of Innovation, Leadership, Impact, Collaboration and Community Choice. Join us by recognizing exceptional work in these areas. The three finalists in each category of Innovation, Leadership, Impact and Collaboration are:
Community Innovation
- Beecuz (Innovative mental health education and training for youth)
- The Raw Carrot Soup Enterprise (Social franchise employing individuals living with disabilities)
- The Atrium Project (Online and phone-based volunteer matching service supporting vulnerable populations)
Community Leadership
- Dustin Carter (Community paramedicine - enhancing mental health, addictions and physical health services)
- Mandi Fields (Volunteer and community organizer - Menstrual equality, anti-bullying, Indigenous community allyship and support)
- Arielle Kayabaga (Civic leader - diversity equity and inclusion advocate, champion for underserved communities)
Community Impact
- Andrew's Legacy (Education and action surrounding sudden cardiac arrest and life saving benefits of Automated External Defibrillators)
- Dribbling Down Barriers (Basketball training program that uses basketball as a platform to promote diversity and inclusion)
- My Sister's Place Sustainability Committee (Volunteer group that ensures the financial viability of the organization to support London’s most vulnerable women)
Community Collaboration
- Community Food Box (Providing accessible, affordable nutritious food to underserved Londoners)
- Free Rides for Essential Workers (Providing free, reliable and safe transportation to low-income essential workers)
- London for All (Large multi-stakeholder community plan to end poverty in a generation)

The Pillar Community Innovation Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 19th, 2020 on our virtual event platform. Award recipients will receive $2,000 to be directed to the registered charity of their choice and will be presented with a custom-designed award, accompanied by their names engraved on the perpetual plaque in the Hudson’s Bay Passageway at the London Central Library.
