Summer Child & Youth Program Facilitator

The London Community Chaplaincy provides support to children, youth and families living in the two largest low-income housing complexes in the city of London. In addition, outreach programs provide limited support and programming to underserved communities across the city. The London Community Chaplaincy seeks to build community with families who face the challenges of living in poverty, to empower the children of these families through teaching life skills, providing a safe place for learning, and exposure to healthy relationships with peers and adult leaders. The Summer Youth Leadership Facilitator is a core member of our summer team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • - Build healthy, professional and supportive relationships with the residents, engaging children and youth in drop-in activities and structured programs throughout July and August
  • - Nurture and develop a sense of community and healthy relationships among children and youth
  • - Work with high-risk children and youth living in public housing during planned programs
  • - Lead/implement daily outdoor programs and events as scheduled and planned by the Youth Coordinator
  • - Lead CYW and student volunteers in all outdoor and indoor summer programming operating at site
  • - With the Chaplaincy team, support special events and activities
  • Assist children and youth in the development of key social skills, life skills, literacy skills, and numeracy skills
  • - Guide individual behaviours and group dynamics during programs
  • - Ensure the safety of all children and youth during programs both on-site and off-site by following all Policies and Procedures
  • - Maintain records, statistics, and other vital information according to policies and procedures
  • - Be responsible for opening and closing the site and ensuring that all program supplies and resources are available and in good condition

Key Outcomes:

  • - Launch engaging, recreational activities during designated sessions that target specific skills or learning opportunities while adhering to any specific themes or budget
  • - Ensure that program implementation maximizes engagement and education for the targeted children and youth
  • - Build a positive, safe space for children, youth, residents, and the site team
  • - Ensure daily paperwork and administration is complete

Reports to: Executive Director & Youth Coordinator

Preferred Assets:

  • - CPR and First Aid
  • - Safe Food Handling
  • - Understanding of working in a faith-based organization

Compensation and Scheduling:

Starting $20.00/Hour for approximately 35 hours a week for 8 weeks (beginning June 29, 2026). Shifts will be predominantly Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am and 6pm.
