POSITION SUMMARY 

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy (DoP), the Special Events Coordinator provides support to the Philanthropy team in a variety of capacities, with a focus on event planning and coordination. 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Complete an environmental scan of family-friendly fundraising strategies used by other nonprofits, looking at what’s working well, how organizations are engaging families, and any creative approaches that could inform our work. Summaries should highlight key themes, opportunities, and ideas that could be adapted for Merrymount. 

Work with staff to design small AI-assisted workflows (e.g., automating simple tasks, drafting communications, data sorting), including support related to creating a donor database 

Assist in developing comprehensive implementation plans for upcoming fundraising events, including timelines, logistics, budget considerations, donor appeals, and event activities. 

Support marketing materials and event logistics for signature fundraising events, including the Annual Gala, Annual Golf Classic and Family Beach Fest 

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

• This grant is funded by HRSDC and therefore requires that the successful applicant be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job; and be legal entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations (this includes having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of the employment period). 

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) 

• Interest in event planning, community engagement, and/or nonprofit fundraising 

• Comfortable using digital tools and able to help develop AI tools 

• Ability to see both the big picture perspective and pay scrupulous attention to details 

• Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and meet deadlines 

• Demonstrated professionalism and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality 

• Proficiency in French an asset
