Forest City Healing Centre (FCHC) is a men’s residential addiction treatment centre located in London, Ontario. FCHC provides structured residential recovery programming within a supportive, accountability-focused, and recovery-centered environment grounded in dignity, compassion, consistency, and community care.
Operating from a restored historic building with a 20-bed capacity, the Centre integrates evidence-informed recovery programming, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, peer support, emotional regulation, life-skills development, and individualized care planning within a therapeutic residential setting.
Position Summary
Forest City Healing Centre is seeking a Primary Counsellor to support guests throughout their recovery journey within a structured residential treatment environment.
The successful candidate will provide individual counselling, facilitate group programming, support case planning, and work collaboratively with staff and leadership to maintain a safe, recovery-focused environment grounded in accountability, consistency, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide individual counselling and recovery-focused support to guests
• Facilitate group programming, psychoeducation, and recovery discussions
• Support intake, discharge, and aftercare planning processes
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and case notes
• Support crisis intervention and emotional regulation strategies
• Collaborate with program staff and leadership regarding guest care planning
• Encourage accountability, participation, and recovery-focused engagement within the residential setting
• Maintain ethical, professional, and respectful care practices
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in counselling, social work, psychology, mental health, or related discipline
• Minimum 2 years of experience within addiction treatment, residential recovery, or mental health services
• Experience facilitating groups and providing individual client support
• Understanding of evidence-informed recovery approaches, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation
• Registration or eligibility for registration with a relevant Ontario professional college considered an asset
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Commitment to ethical, respectful, and client-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working within residential treatment environments
• Familiarity with abstinence-based and/or Twelve-Step-oriented recovery settings
• Lived experience with recovery (personal or familial) is valued and respected
• Familiarity with community referral networks and recovery supports in the London region
