Neighbourhood Worker- Basic Needs and Support Services

The Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre is seeking a dedicated and community-focused Neighbourhood Worker to support the delivery of essential basic needs services. This role involves working directly with individuals and families to enhance food security, provide referrals, and support community programming.

This position is ideal for students or individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in community service, social work, or non-profit operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the delivery of basic needs services, including:

    • Community Food Cupboard

    • Food Bank Mobile Truck

    • Pop-Up Fresh Produce Market

    • Hot Meal Program

    • Green Thumbs Garden Program

  • Provide information and referrals to internal programs and external community resources, including neighbourhood-based and city-wide services

  • Maintain accurate service delivery records using data collection forms and tracking logs

  • Support the planning and execution of community events, including the annual Summer Neighbourhood Block Party

  • Conduct and distribute participant surveys to gather community feedback

  • Complete data entry, reporting, and general administrative tasks

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Social Service Worker (SSW) diploma, Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), or a related field

  • Interest in community development, social services, or non-profit work

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds

  • Organized with attention to detail, especially in record-keeping and data entry

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs; applications must meet the following eligibility criteria set out by Canada Summer Jobs:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*;

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and, 

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

  • Anticipated start date is June 29, 2026.
