Start Date: November 2025

Location: 944 Western Counties Road, London, ON, Canada. This is a hybrid position that involves a combination of in-person (minimum 2 office days per week) and remote work. Evenings and weekend work will be required on occasion to accommodate activities such as meetings and special events. Reliable transportation access is required for travel to various job responsibilities within London, Ontario.

Compensation: 

  • Salary range: $49,176 - $66,557, based on experience level

Position Summary: 

The Green Economy London Manager drives the growth and impact of the Green Economy London (GEL) program by recruiting new members, building business partnerships, and developing new revenue opportunities. This role combines business development with program delivery, ensuring that members receive strategic support, coaching, and recognition as they set and advance their sustainability goals.

The Manager also leads the communications strategy, sharing member successes and raising the Hub’s profile through events, media, and digital platforms. By working within the LEN network, Green Economy Canada, and other partners, the Manager ensures GEL remains innovative, credible, and responsive to the needs of our members. 

The Organization:

The London Environmental Network (LEN) is a registered environmental charity that aims to make London, Ontario, one of the greenest and most resilient cities in Canada. The LEN works to connect and engage with individuals, nonprofits, and businesses in London and the surrounding area to reduce their environmental impacts through various programs and services. 

Green Economy London (GEL) is a program of the LEN that supports its business and other organizational members in achieving their sustainability goals. GEL is also part of the nationwide Green Economy Canada network, which provides the guidance, resources, and networks needed to set greenhouse gas reduction and other environmental targets, and recognizes its members for their progress. 

Preferable Skills & Experience:

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following experience, traits, and abilities:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in sustainability, business, environmental management, or other related areas

  • A strong passion for sustainability and contributing to a healthy community across multiple sectors

  • Minimum 2 years of client management experience in a professional setting is an asset, particularly in the not-for-profit or corporate sector

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly related to promoting products or services 

  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills;

  • Strong interpersonal skills; must love talking to new people, developing relationships, and finding collaborative solutions 

  • Knowledge of GHG accounting standards and protocols is considered an asset

Job Duties:

Program Growth & Business Development (40%)

  • Lead membership growth by recruiting 10-12 new members annually, building a strong pipeline of prospective businesses and organizations

  • Manages activities related to partnership and business development, including:

    • Sourcing leads, engaging with prospective members

    • Attending networking events, building relationships and liaising with sustainability professionals within London and in the broader sustainability community 

    • Creating opportunities for corporate partnerships in GEL programming, such as Chamber of Commerce events, Climate Action for Businesses Month, features in London Business Magazine, and TechAlliance to reach new audiences

  • Develop a compelling case for membership and collaboration by highlighting GEL’s impact and value proposition

  • Identify and implement opportunities for corporate sponsorships to support the longevity and impact of the GEL program. For example, implementing a cohort model with a corporate partner to deliver GEL programming for a cohort of small businesses

  • Develop and execute a consultation menu of services to diversify and stabilize revenue streams, including but not limited to: sustainability assessment and reporting, case study development, climate action plan, and in-person workshops

Member Engagement & Retention (25%)

  • On an ongoing basis, provide strategic support, accountability, and coaching to members along their sustainability journeys, regularly tracking and reporting on member progress and sustainability outcomes

  • Develop a cohort of members and community partners focused on circular economy best practices, and facilitate opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing about the circular economy

  • Deliver additional workshops and peer-learning opportunities on sustainability topics tailored to members’ interests and needs

  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual recognition event, Green Leader Awards, in collaboration with the LEN team

  • Celebrate and recognize members for their efforts through member impact stories, case studies, Green the Leader Awards, and publicly through media and community channels

  • With support from the Sustainable Building Coordinator, ensure members are supported through the carbon accounting tool, Carbonhound and receive annual sustainability assessments and reports

Communications & Marketing (25%)

  • Develop and execute a communications strategy to enhance GEL’s visibility and expand audiences

  • Produce Green Economy London’s Annual Impact Reports to highlight member impact and program growth

  • Lead promotion of member success stories and network updates through digital communications platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and e-newsletter

  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the GEL website with blogs, events calendar, and new members

Program Improvement & Green Economy Canada Contribution (10%)

  • Implement Green Economy Canada’s membership tiers in 2026 to better serve members' needs locally while maintaining credibility and consistency across the national network 

  • Build relationships and liaise with sustainability professionals locally and nationally through Green Economy Canada

  • Participate in Green Economy Canada network updates and quarterly check-ins

  • Analyze and improve upon service offerings based on member feedback and market opportunities

  • Share innovations and best practices with the Green Economy Canada network
