Position Summary:

The Environmental Outreach Coordinator will coordinate the Antler River Rally (ARR) program and outreach initiatives in the community. A vast majority of the Coordinator’s time will be spent managing the ARR program, which includes event and volunteer coordination, collaborating with community organizations and representatives, and measuring and sharing success stories for the program. These activities will ensure effective, impactful, and inclusive litter cleanups in the community. A smaller component of this role is conducting outreach to strategically engage the community about ways to get involved with LEN and our network. This includes tasks like setting up outreach booths, conducting presentations, coordinating volunteers, and maintaining materials to communicate the organization’s mission. The Coordinator will frequently connect with the public and be involved in the LEN’s “on-the-ground” work that makes a positive impact in the community. We are seeking someone who is passionate about engaging with the public about environmental issues, building a community of active volunteers, and has strong project management skills to execute programming successfully.

The Organization:

The London Environmental Network (LEN) is a registered environmental charity that aims to make London, Ontario, one of the greenest and most resilient cities in Canada. The LEN works to connect and engage with individuals, nonprofits, and businesses in London and the surrounding area to reduce their environmental impacts through various programs and services. In addition, the LEN provides capacity-building and promotional support to its network of over 40 environmental non-profit and grassroots community groups, helping to raise the profile of the environmental sector. Through a collaborative network approach, the LEN brings everyone together to make London a green and resilient city.

Antler River Rally (ARR) is a recent addition to the LEN’s programs, as co-founders Tom Cull and Miriam Love officially transitioned the group’s leadership to the LEN in September 2025. ARR aims to create a healthy watershed by organizing clean-ups along the Thames River (Antler River). From April to October, an area of the river is targeted each month with the support of incredible volunteers, collecting an average of 1,000 pounds of litter per clean-up. Cleanups are typically held once a month on a Saturday from 9am-11am. Through providing opportunities for environmental stewardship, evoking civic pride in green spaces, and active engagement in clean-up campaigns, ARR seeks to promote the importance of keeping the Thames River watershed litter-free.

Preferable Skills & Experience:

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following experience, traits, and abilities:

  • A strong passion and awareness of the intersections between environmental issues and social service challenges. In particular, the dynamics between litter, environmental protection, and London’s unhoused population
  • Previous work or volunteer experience with diverse and vulnerable populations and a demonstrated ability to apply an inclusive and equity-focused approach to their work
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with the public and community organizations
