Job title: Community Projects Coordinator
Position Details:
The Urban League of London is looking for a candidate with experience with project management, coordinating events and managing communications. The candidate must be well-organized and have strong attention to detail.
The main project associated with this position will be leading and coordinating the working group for All Candidates Meetings for the 2026 Municipal Elections (“ACMs”). The working group will be made up of representatives from the community and will be tasked with planning and hosting ACMs for the 14 Wards in the 2026 Municipal Elections in London.
The Urban League believes that it is important for the democratic process to give candidates the opportunity to discuss issues and engage with members of the public. The ACMs provide this opportunity in a non-partisan manner. One of the main goals of hosting the ACMs is to increase knowledge and participation in municipal elections for all community members.
The Organization:
The Urban League is an umbrella group whose members include neighbourhood associations, community groups and individuals from across the city of London, Ontario. We believe that engaged and informed Londoners are the building blocks of a vital, successful, and sustainable city.
Duties Include (but are not limited to):
- Reviewing materials from 2022 ACMs and developing work plan towards ACMs to be held in September and October 2026;
- Hosting bi-weekly meetings of working group to ensure project milestones are on track;
- Booking venues and schedule for each ACM;
- Recruiting volunteers for ACMs, and assigning roles and schedules;
- Working with AV partners to ensure all ACMs are recorded and available online for viewing;
- Developing questions and script for moderators;
- Creating communications and outreach strategy to ensure ACMs are well-attended by candidates and members of the public, and accessible to all;
- Supervising ACMs and responding to any problems that may arise; and,
- Overseeing tasks delegated to members of the working group.
The position may also include tasks related to the Urban League’s general business, including but not limited to curating communications on various platforms, including Instagram and our website, and assisting with member and follower e-newsletters. The position reports to the Board President of the League and will be supported by various Board members on their projects.

Preferable Experience:
Preference will be given to candidates that have some experience in project management, event planning, communications, sponsorships, and a strong passion for contributing to a healthy community. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, traits and abilities:

Leadership Skills: the ability to plan, strategize, set goals, develop work plans, work efficiently and track progress; strong ability to work independently; ability to multi-task and assist with multiple projects and initiatives; initiative to explore new ideas and create new opportunities; ability to make decisions and resolve problems.

Communication Skills: excellent communication skills (oral and written); ability to deliver presentations; knowledge of effective communication tools and strategies to engage the public. Previous experience with using social media to promote an organization or business through social media posts and online advertising highly desired.

Event Planning Skills: the ideal candidate will have experience planning events - big and small.

Adaptability: demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, versatile and adapt to a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Ability to learn new technologies and master new skills. Able to handle stress and multi-task.

Technical Skills: excellent computer skills (Word, GSuite and Google Drive, Excel, Powerpoint, Social Media). Website development, ability to update website content, and graphic design are an asset.
Remuneration:
This is a part-time contract position at the League (average of 20-25 hours a month for eight to ten months). All planning and logistics will be completed using a combination of email, phone calls and virtual meetings so flexibility in schedule will be necessary. Hourly wage rate: $20 per hour.
