Join us for an immersive storytelling experience with Jelimana, a powerful narrative performed by Hwabaraty. This performance follows Jeqe, a young man from 1960s Zimbabwe who is forced to leave his village as the liberation war intensifies. Carrying his favorite book, dreams, and songs, Jeqe's journey is one of courage and self-discovery as he embraces his destiny as Jelimana.
In this evocative tale, Jeqe’s sister Lili, a village spiritual medium, abandons her calling to join the armed struggle, plunging their world into chaos. As the war unfolds, Jeqe must navigate his own path and find his place in a rapidly changing world. Experience the rich storytelling, vivid imagery, and deep emotional resonance of Jelimana, where history and personal journey intertwine. This performance invites you to explore themes of identity, resilience, and personal and collective liberation.
